Live at The Bandstand Sunday June 4th 1940s
Hosted by Nick Courtney
Featuring THE UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH BIG BAND
The University of Portsmouth Big Band plays a wide range of music, anything from jazz standards through to soul, funk, Latin, cheese and just about everything in between. When in full swing, this 18 piece big band showcases the talent of its saxophone, trombone, trumpet and rhythm sections as well as calling on the excellent vocal talents of our singers.
The Three Belles are a professional 1940s vocal trio inspired by The Andrews Sisters.
The Three Belles all studied Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Portsmouth and formed the group in their final year. They all found that they had a mutual love and almost obsession with The Andrews Sisters and their impressive harmonies, vocal style and characterful performances. After graduating, each with First Class Honours Degrees in July 2011, the girls decided to go full time!
They have performed at IOW Fest, West End Live at Trafalgar Square, The Royal Albert Hall, The Ritz and The Savoy, and have entertained audiences of up to 14,000 people! They have produced and promoted their own sell out tours at such venues as The Portsmouth Guildhall.
The past couple of years have seen the girls performing live on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, BBC South Today and The X Factor Talk Talk Ad, ITV’s ‘Inside The National Trust’ and ‘The Evening Show’ on London Live.
